 The 11th International Workshop
 on Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation

<big image>
The 11th International Workshop on “Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation" was held from June 14th to 16th promoted by NDE & Science Research Center at Hotel APPI Grand. Participants are 48 from France, Italy, Hungary, China, Korea, UK, USA, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Poland and Slovakia. We had 32 oral presentations and 17 posters. The main theme of the ENDE workshop has been on “Eddy Current Technique” to identify cracks in metals and alloys. Since the first ENDE workshop was held in London 1995, the workshops have contributed the technical advance in ECT through our competition and collaboration. ECT is put to practical use in industry now as one of the approved methods of crack detection in steels and metallic structure.

We added the new topics in APPI meeting, i.e. magnetic NDE method according to the concept of NDE & Science Research Center. Two of three invited talks are on the magnetic NDE; “Origin, Measurement and Application of Barkhausen Effect in Steels” by Prof. A. J. Moses and “A New Initiative Universal Network for Magnetic Non-destructive Evaluation” by .G. Vértesy. We had ten presentations on magnetic NDE.

The next ENDE meeting will be held from June 19th to 21st 2007 in Cardiff under the auspices of Wolfson Center for Magnetics Technology, Cardiff School of Engineering, Cardiff University.

We could concentrate our interest on the academic exchange and the sincere discussion for three days, since APPI is located in an out-of-the way place. All the participants enjoyed the beautiful green, fresh air, good taste water and the lovely concert.

Objective

   During the last decade, we have experienced a variety of serious technological disorders due to breakdowns in the transportation system, energy supply system and communication network. From the viewpoint of the harmony with the natural environment and the sustainable economic development the lifetime extension of these systems is the 21st century identity in the world. The marked progress in ENDE technology is the inevitable condition to reconcile the safety and the lifetime extension. The ENDE 2006 follows the trends of nano-technology and the microstructure of materials.
